Thick steel and big bolts, more than I expected but it's great! I am glad I paid more than the cheapest one and got a great product.It was also so easily to install I did it all by myself. Probably even easier with 2 people but me and my friends jack and jack were able to do it in less than 30 mins. I have it on a Honda Pilot and followed the instructions, propped it up, bolted and torqued it and it was ready to go camping the next morning! Very Happy.
